ADB introduces 24-Hours service at Tema Habour

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC has officially commenced 24-hour banking services at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in Tema to support the government’s newly introduced 24-hour port service initiative, which took effect on July 1, 2025.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of ADB, Edward Ato Sarpong, stated that the bank’s latest initiative aligns with its new tagline “Beyond Banking…”, a reflection of ADB’s commitment to going beyond traditional banking to offer innovative and customer-centric solutions that enhance convenience and drive economic growth.

Mr. Sarpong urged customers and the general public to take full advantage of the 24-hour service at the port, particularly for the payment of GPHA handling charges, to ensure seamless business operations.

He emphasized that the round-the-clock banking service is a strategic move by ADB to meet the growing needs of port stakeholders including importers, exporters, freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs clearing agents, and traders who operate within time-sensitive logistics environments.

“This 24-hour economy is not just about working round the clock,” Mr. Sarpong explained, “it’s about creating added value and decent jobs that will help transition the economy toward higher productivity and competitiveness.”

He further revealed that ADB is working on expanding the 24-hour service model to other key payment collection points across the country in a bid to facilitate transactions, enhance business operations, and stimulate broader economic activity.

The launch of this service reinforces ADB’s position as a key partner in national development and a driver of innovation within the banking sector.
