Managing Director of Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC, Edward Ato Sarpong, has lauded the Government of Ghana’s Feed Ghana Initiative, describing it as a bold and transformative policy that has the potential to significantly boost agricultural productivity and generate widespread employment opportunities.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), is aimed at expanding local food production, enhancing food security, and supplying consistent raw materials to drive the growth of agro-based industries. It also seeks to create sustainable jobs for youth and agripreneurs, while contributing to national economic transformation.
Speaking on the Bank’s commitment to national development, Mr. Sarpong noted that the Feed Ghana programme aligns perfectly with ADB’s core mission and its newly launched corporate tagline, “Beyond Banking”
“The initiative aligns with ADB’s new direction of delivering value that goes beyond traditional financial services,” he said. “Our role is not only to finance agriculture, but also to support the broader transformation of lives and livelihoods. Feed Ghana is precisely the type of initiative that will inspire us to innovate and walk with farmers, processors, and agri-SMEs on their journey to growth.”
The ADB boss pledged the Bank’s full support to the implementation of the programme, highlighting areas such as the Grains and Legumes Development, Smart Agriculture, Vegetable Development, Institutional Farming, Poultry Sector Initiatives, Livestock Development, Cocoa Industry, Cotton Production, and Oil Palm Industry Development.
He further stated that the Bank is already working on customized financing solutions and new partnership frameworks to meet the unique needs of stakeholders involved in the Feed Ghana programme.
“I strongly believe this programme will strengthen the agricultural value chain by ensuring produce is efficiently processed into food and industrial inputs, reduce post-harvest losses, and boost food security in Ghana,” Mr. Sarpong added.
ADB, which is currently repositioning itself to better serve its customers through universal product offerings and digital banking solutions, recently unveiled its new tagline, “Beyond Banking…”, as part of a broader strategic shift centered on partnerships, customer experience, and innovation.
