Hajia Zahara Ligbi, wife of the late Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, delivered a heartfelt and emotional tribute to her husband during the interdenominational state funeral held on Friday, August 15.

Reflecting on their 28 years of marriage, Hajia Ligbi described her late husband as a man of deep compassion whose strength bore the heavy responsibilities of the nation with humility and grace.

“You inspired loyalty not because you demanded it, but because you earned it through your character. You touched lives in ways that cannot be counted, and your absence will leave a space that no one can fill.”

She spoke tenderly of the personal support he provided as her confidant, counsellor, and truest friend.

“I will miss your laughter in our home, your gentle reassurances in times of difficulty, and your quiet strength that made me feel safe no matter the storm. I will hold on to every memory, every lesson, and every blessing that our marriage brought me.”

Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed was one of eight victims who died when a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. The team was en route to Obuasi to attend the launch of the Responsible Community and Cooperative Mining Programme.

Other notable victims included Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong; and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

The crew who perished in the crash were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The funeral brought together government officials, military leaders, families, and mourners to honour the fallen and celebrate their lives and legacies.
