Speaker Inaugurates Northern Caucus of Ninth Parliament, Pledges Strategic Development Agenda
The Speaker of Parliament inaugurated the Northern Caucus of the Ninth Parliament, calling for a strategic plan to promote healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, industrialization, and cultural preservation. He urged collaboration with government, civil society, traditional leaders, and development partners to advance the region’s development.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has inaugurated the Northern Caucus of the Ninth Parliament, urging its members to champion a comprehensive development agenda for the northern part of Ghana.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Speaker emphasized that the Northern Caucus presents a unique opportunity to design and implement a strategic roadmap that addresses the pressing needs of the region. He highlighted key areas of intervention including the provision of quality healthcare, improved road infrastructure, rural electrification, enhanced water and sanitation facilities, agricultural modernization, industrialization, and the preservation of the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Rt. Hon. Bagbin expressed confidence that the Caucus would serve as a vital bridge between Parliament and key stakeholders including Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), civil society organizations (CSOs), traditional authorities, and international development partners to attract and deliver meaningful development to the people of northern Ghana.
The Speaker further called on members of the Caucus to work in unity and with a sense of purpose to address the developmental gaps that have long affected the northern part of the country.
