Presenting Bawumia Gives NPP a Major Advantage – John Ntim Fordjour

Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stands to gain a significant advantage in the 2024 general elections by presenting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its presidential candidate.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Rev. Fordjour argued that Dr. Bawumia's prior appearance on the presidential ballot as a running mate in three consecutive elections gives the party a strong head start in terms of national visibility and voter recognition.

“It will be a major advantage for the NPP to present Dr. Bawumia, who has already appeared on the ballot,” he said. “Ghanaians know him, they’ve seen his work and contributions, especially in the areas of digitalization, economic reforms, and public sector innovation.”

The Assin South legislator emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s track record and broad appeal across various regions and demographics make him a formidable candidate who can consolidate support and lead the party to victory.

He also praised the Vice President for his role in advancing policies that have modernized governance, improved access to public services, and attracted foreign investment.

Rev. Fordjour’s endorsement adds to growing support within the NPP for Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy, ahead of the party's internal processes to elect its 2024 flagbearer.

The NPP is expected to hold its presidential primaries in the coming months, with several prominent figures already showing interest in leading the party into the next general elections.
