Newly posted trained teachers on Monday picketed at the headquarters of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Accra to demand the immediate issuance of their staff IDs and payment of their 10 months’ salary arrears.
The aggrieved teachers, who were posted across various regions, expressed deep frustration over the delays, which they say have left many unable to meet their basic needs.
One female teacher, speaking to the media during the protest, revealed the dire impact of the situation on her life. “I can no longer pay my bills or afford basic necessities. We have served faithfully for nearly a year, but without our salaries, survival has become a daily struggle,” she lamented.
The teachers called on the GES and the Ministry of Education to act swiftly to address their concerns, warning that their patience is wearing thin.
