Leader of the People’s National Party (PNP), Janet Nabila, has sharply criticized President John Dramani Mahama for organizing a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, accusing him of hypocrisy amid ongoing controversies surrounding the judiciary.
Speaking to reporters, Nabila stated that instead of calling the nation to prayer, the President should have declared a National Day of Repentance, citing what she described as alleged attempts by the government to illegally remove suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Tokornu from office.
“We know very well that this day, they should have been celebrating a National Day of Repentance instead of a National Day of Prayer,” Nabila asserted.
Her comments come amid growing public scrutiny and tension surrounding the Chief Justice’s suspension and alleged political interference in the judiciary.
The Presidency has not yet responded to the allegations, but Nabila’s remarks have added to the mounting political debate about transparency, justice, and the sincerity of national leadership.
