Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight national officers on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Oppong Nkrumah described the incident as “so, so heartbreaking,” extending prayers to the bereaved families and the entire nation during what he termed a “terrible day of national tragedy.”
“My prayers go out to the families of our eight colleagues who have fallen in the line of duty and in the service of our dear country. It is so heartbreaking to hear of our countrymen suffer this fate,” he wrote.
The minister made special mention of the late Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing his passing as particularly painful for the Pope John Secondary School alumni community, of which both men are members.
“For the Pope John Secondary School fraternity, Pojoba Senior Dr. Omane Boamah’s demise stings extra painfully,” he added.
Oppong Nkrumah prayed for strength for the families and for the nation to continue the work of the fallen officers.
“May the good Lord keep their souls and comfort the families left behind. May he give us all the strength to hold the fort and carry on their service,” he concluded, adding the hashtags #BlackWednesday and #Ghana.
The crash, which killed all eight persons onboard, has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from political leaders, civil society, and ordinary citizens alike.
