Government Projects $4 Billion Investment for 24-Hour Economy Initiative – Presidential Adviser Reveals

The Presidential Adviser on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr. Augustus Goosie Obuodum Tandoh, has revealed that the implementation of the ambitious 24-hour economy initiative will require an estimated $4 billion in funding. He emphasized that a substantial portion of this amount is expected to be mobilized through private sector investments.

Speaking ahead of the official launch of the program, Mr. Tandoh explained that the initiative is designed to drive economic growth by encouraging round-the-clock production across key sectors, with a focus on agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and service delivery.

He noted that the government is working to restore investor confidence and attract capital by introducing improved, performance-based incentives for participating businesses. These incentives will be geared toward companies that demonstrate efficiency, sustainability, and job creation under the 24-hour economic model.

“Our approach is not just about working longer hours, but about working smarter, creating jobs, and ensuring productivity throughout the entire day and night cycle,” Mr. Tandoh stated.

He added that while the government will play a facilitating role, the real engine of the 24-hour economy will be driven by partnerships with local and international private sector players who are willing to invest in a modernized, performance-oriented economic framework.

The initiative forms part of government’s broader strategy to reduce unemployment, boost industrial output, and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness on the global stage.
