The meeting, led by Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), and Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, focused on deepening collaboration in key sectors including ICT, Artificial Intelligence, education, fintech, and telecoms.
Hon. George disclosed that Ghana will lead a formidable delegation of both government officials and private sector representatives to Japan in September 2025, signaling the country’s strong commitment to showcasing its innovations and investment opportunities at the global event.
“We aim to sign meaningful agreements that will drive growth and development in these critical sectors,” the Minister emphasized. “We look forward to partnering with Japanese companies to explore opportunities in Ghana.”
Ambassador Yoshimoto, in response, welcomed the partnership and noted Japan’s growing interest in impactful development areas such as climate technology, productivity enhancement, and early childhood education. Both parties agreed to initiate strategic planning, data sharing, and matchmaking between Ghanaian and Japanese enterprises.
Additionally, President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Summit in August 2025, further strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic and economic engagement with Japan.
The Osaka Expo 2025, themed around innovation and sustainable development, is expected to serve as a catalyst for cultural exchange, investment inflows, and economic growth for participating nations.
