President John Dramani Mahama has commemorated the 33rd anniversary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with a heartfelt message reflecting on the party’s legacy, values, and vision for Ghana’s future.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, President Mahama paid glowing tribute to the party’s founder, the late Jerry John Rawlings, and saluted the numerous activists, pioneers, and loyal supporters who have contributed immensely to the growth of both the NDC and Ghana’s democratic journey.
“Today, we proudly celebrate 33 years since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was born, a testament to the enduring legacy of our unwavering dedication as members of the NDC and that of our Founder, Jerry John Rawlings,” President Mahama wrote.
He further acknowledged the sacrifices made by generations of NDC faithful, noting that their resilience remains one of the party’s greatest strengths.
“To our members and supporters across the world, your loyalty and resilience are our greatest assets,” the post read.
Looking ahead, President Mahama called on party members to draw strength from their history, unite with renewed energy, and continue working toward a Ghana that embodies the NDC’s values of social justice, equality, and inclusivity.
“May our 33rd anniversary milestone energise us to redouble our efforts, build upon our achievements, and reset Ghana,” he urged.
The NDC was founded on June 10, 1992, by Jerry John Rawlings and played a central role in Ghana’s return to multiparty democracy. Over the past three decades, the party has held political power on multiple occasions and continues to be one of the two major political forces in the country.
