Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu Denies Claims of Deaths During GES Protest, Challenges Minority Leader for Evidence
Education Minister Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has denied claims by Minority Leader Hon. Afenyo Markin that there were deaths during the GES protest, calling the allegations “despicable lies.” He challenged the Minority Leader to provide evidence if the claims are true.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has categorically denied allegations made by the Minority Leader, Hon. Afenyo Markin, that deaths occurred during the recent protest by Ghana Education Service (GES) staff. Describing the claims as “despicable lies,” the Minister expressed outrage at what he called an attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Hon. Iddrisu challenged the Minority Leader and anyone else making such accusations to provide concrete evidence to support their claims. He emphasized that no such incident was recorded and urged the public to disregard the false reports.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to engaging with GES staff and addressing their concerns through dialogue rather than misinformation and political sensationalism.
