Cabo Verde President Reaffirms Strong Commitment to ECOWAS During Abuja Visit
The President of Cabo Verde, H.E. José Maria Pereira Neves, has reaffirmed his country's unwavering commitment to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), pledging continued collaboration with fellow Member States to strengthen regional stability, prosperity, and integration.

The President of Cabo Verde, H.E. José Maria Pereira Neves, has reaffirmed his country's unwavering commitment to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), pledging continued collaboration with fellow Member States to strengthen regional stability, prosperity, and integration.
President Neves made the remarks during his visit to the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He was received by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Omar Alieu Touray.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Cabo Verde and the regional body, as well as current political developments within West Africa. Their talks also touched on ECOWAS’ engagement with member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), namely Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
President Neves reiterated that Cabo Verde remains firmly aligned with the collective vision of a stronger, more stable, and more integrated ECOWAS for the benefit of its citizens, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation among Member States.
