The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has stirred fresh political debate with claims that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is quietly rooting for Kennedy Agyapong’s candidacy within the NPP.
According to Abronye, the NDC’s supposed strategy hinges on the belief that if both the NPP and NDC present new presidential candidates in the next election, the NDC would have a stronger chance of winning.
“The NDC knows that with two new faces on the ballot, their chances are brighter. That’s why they are effectively endorsing Kennedy Agyapong in subtle ways,” Abronye alleged, speaking at a party meeting in Sunyani.
His comments have fueled ongoing discussions within political circles about internal party dynamics, candidate selection, and strategies for the 2028 general elections.
Political watchers say Abronye’s statement reflects growing tensions as the NPP prepares for its internal elections.
