CID takes DNA samples from kidnapped girls’ families today

Blood samples are expected to be taken from families of the three kidnapped Takoradi girls on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, by Police Forensic Experts to validate the authenticity or otherwise of the human remains discovered barely two weeks ago thought to be that of the girls.

Police say they expect to complete the DNA tests on the human parts found near the home of one of two Nigerian suspects, Samuel Udotek Wills in the Takoradi kidnapping case within four weeks.

The Police Administration in the statement assured it will be “covering all other angles of the investigation” as the search continues for the three kidnapped girls; Priscilla Blessing Bentum, Ruth Love Quayson and Priscilla Kuranchie.”

The police found the human remains on Friday, August 2, 2019 and requested that the families be on standby to provide DNA samples for testing after meeting them.

But the families announced that they’ll not cooperate with the police in offering the blood samples as they had no confidence in the police to do a good job.

They later made a u-tun indicating that they’ll avail themselves for DNA tests requested by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service in the interest of the nation.

The whereabouts of the three missing Takoradi girls – Ruthlove Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, and Priscilla Koranchie – who were kidnapped between August and December 2018 have been a mystery several months after the issue gained national prominence.
