The Chief Justice (CJ), Sophia Akuffo, has dismissed a petition filed by beleaguered New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer, Hajia Fati.
Hajia Fati has, through her lawyers, petitioned the CJ to have a case in which she is standing trial for assault and damage of property levelled against her, transferred to another court, citing bias on the part of the presiding judge.
Nevertheless, the CJ in her response said Hajia’s petition to transfer the case lacked merit and accordingly dismissed same.
The dismissal of the petition was announced in court by the Presiding Judge at the Adjabeng District Court, His Worship Isaac Addo.
Readers would recall that counsel for Hajia Fati, Ben Shaw, petitioned the CJ to transfer the case to another court, citing bias in favour of the complainant.
Hajia Fati is in court to answer charges of assault and damage of property levelled against her by the state, charges she has pleaded not guilty to.
The case has been adjourned to 16th September 2019 for the accused person to open her defence.
